NASA has served as a source of American ingenuity
and prestige through its mission successes and scientific advancements.
This continued effort has allowed the United States to remain a
technological leader among its international partners. However,
we cannot afford to rest on our past accomplishments while the rest
of the world increases their capabilities. NASA’s contributions
to global leadership include the following:
The Apollo moon landings are remembered around the world as
one of the greatest achievements of mankind.
The International Space Station (ISS), a successful example
of international partnership between 15 different countries, is
an important national asset designated as a National Laboratory.
Numerous NASA missions, both manned and unmanned programs, involved
significant international cooperation, including Mars Phoenix,
Cassini, and the Hubble Space Telescope.
