NASA pushes the frontiers of exploration and
discovery, boldly taking on seemingly impossible tasks. Walking
on the moon is an accomplishment no other nation has yet to achieve.
The pioneering steps of exploration and development accomplished
by NASA have provided inspiration to the next generation to seek
careers within Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM)
and related fields. NASA’s contributions to education include
the following:
NASA inspires the next generation to enter STEM fields through
its achievements in space, technological advancements and visible
role models, such as astronauts.
NASA supports science and engineering education, research and
public outreach efforts through the Space Grant College and Fellowship
Program. The Space Grant national network includes over 850 affiliates
from universities, colleges, industry, museums, science centers,
and state and local agencies.
NASA plays a leading role in many research fields, including
aeronautics, Earth observation, astronomy, nanotechnology, and
